So Saturday night the girls came over so Sarah and Kerry could go to Sarah's 20th High School Reunion (GULP!). I asked the girls what they wanted to do, and threw out a couple suggestions like bowling, the movies, the mall playground, and Katelyn said kinda quietly, I think fully expecting the answer to be no, "How about we go ice skating?". And with no hesitation, we were all promptly putting on our winter clothes in August so we could make it to the 1.5 hour open skate session at Germain Arena! We quick ran over to the Waynes house so the girls could gets socks, gloves, hats, etc and then we were on our way!! Adrey and the girls WORE their winter attire in the car....
20 minutes into the ride, KK said, "Where are my socks? I don't know where I put my socks." Yeah, so first thing we did when we got there was buy new socks! We paid for our tickets, got our skates and spent the next 20 minutes lacing every one's shoes!! My gosh the shoe lace tying was quite a production with ice skates! As soon as we got our skates on, both girls confessed that they left their gloves and hats in the car... oh. my. lord. I love those girls with all my heart but I swear if they could leave their brains behind they would! TOO FUNNY! I love this sweet picture of the big kids. All the while, Charlie was in the stroller with his Dolphins sweat suit on eating Cheerios... "just happy to be there".
We all hit the rink and, unbeknownst to me, neither of the girls knew how to skate! LOL! At all times either John or myself were on the sidelines with Charlie while the other was assisting the other 3 who were all wibbly wobby just trying to remain vertical! It was COMICAL to say the least. And about 15 minutes into the skating, KK said her skates were too tight. So we went and got bigger skates and got her all laced up. We went back on the rink and then Allison said her skates were too tight. So I went back with her and got her bigger skates and as I was lacing her up, KK came back and said her skates were too BIG! LOLOLOL! Oh my gosh I swear it was a comedy act! A guy that worked there saw us trying to get KK's shoes to fit and came over and helped get them laced up properly so they wouldn't be so loose. After all the skate changes, about an hour and ten minutes into the evening with only 20 minutes left to skate, I approached Allison who was glued to the side of the rink moving at a snail's pace, and she looked up at me and said,
"We shoulda' gone BOWLING."
