So, John and I went out last night for a much needed "date night"! We hit the Pub first with a few friends and then went to the Capital Grill, just the two of us, for dinner. We get to the bar and I hear someone say my name. I look up and see it's the bartender that I know. John made a comment to him that everywhere we go I see someone I know. I couldn't wait for the bartender to stop talking because I was DYING to tell John something. This is what proceeded to happen:
Me: That's the "muscle" guy!!
John: Who?
Me: The "muscle" guy!!
John: THAT'S the muscle guy???
And then we broke out in hysterics!! Let me rewind, about 11 years back, and share with you a "not-so-proud" moment of mine!! I was a fresh, young whipper snapper... I had just moved back to Naples from Chicago. I was at the beach with a friend of mine (to this day I still can't remember who I was with) and about 30 yards from me was a guy I had a HUGE crush on in high school (he ended up breaking my heart). My heart immediately started racing. I saw that he saw me and he got up and started walking my way. It all went downhill from there. This is what happened next:
Guy: Hey Leah!! Wow, you look great!
Me: Thanks! You have big muscles too!
SERIOUSLY??? SERIOUSLY???
WHO SAYS THAT????
YOU HAVE BIG MUSCLES TOO?
OH...... MY...... LORD....
The even funnier part is, is that he didn't even have big muscles. I think I just felt like since he complimented me that I needed to compliment him back and that's the only thing that came to mind. As soon as it started coming out I knew it was the stupidest thing that I could possibly say... but it was total diarrhea of the mouth... there was no stopping it!!!
I laugh out loud when I think of it because it's seriously just so funny!! And it's made for a great story to tell for the last 11 years (ok, maybe I wasn't proudly sharing the story right away, but as the years went on and the redness left my cheeks, and I never saw the guy again, it was funny!!)
So John wanted me to say something to the guy (whose name, coincidentally, is John) but at that point I didn't have enough cocktails in me, or courage!! We waited until after dinner and then plopped ourselves back up at the bar and got his attention. He came over and saw the grins on our faces and was immediately curious and, I think, a little nervous as to what we were gonna say!! I told him the story (laughing the whole time) and asked if he remembered. He laughed hysterically and said he "vaguely" remembered... which translates to mean he totally didn't remember!! Which is funny because I remember the BATHING SUIT I was wearing!! LOL!!
Oh my gosh, my stomach and cheek muscles hurt today from laughing so hard last night! Last night was SO much fun. I love my husband so much. Sigh...
This is a "no picture" post (sorry Jacqui) but I know I'll get a lot of good Adrey pics today with all the 4th of July festivities so I'll have a good picture post tomorrow!!
