We spent ALL of Memorial Day soaking up the sun at the beach!! It was a GORGEOUS day. Perfect beach weather and water temperatures. Unfortunately Charlie was not feeling 100% (just a cold, but enough to just make him feel crummy) and John wasn't thrilled about the beach idea anyway, so Adrey and I saddled up and hit the beach. I just bought this beach buggy thingy to haul all of our stuff and it was the BEST investment (although when I got to the beach, Sarah had just bought one as well and found the same thing at Costco for half what I paid for it. So maybe "best investment" isn't the right term....) EVER. This thing is incredible. It's so light weight, pulls/pushes easily on hard surfaces OR sand, and it carries a TON of stuff.
I. LOVE. IT.
Adrey had an absolute blast. We played right through his normal nap time and you never would have known it! He was a happy camper all day!! He even let Ryan bury him!!
I'm always amazed at how well sunscreen works. We were at the beach for SIX hours, which meant 4 applications of sunscreen, and he didn't get even a BIT burned!
Adrey was the youngest of all the kids there. It's so cute to see him interact with the "big kids" because you can tell how much he looks up to them. He does EVERYTHING they do. He's like a little shadow and a little parrot to them. He thinks each and every one of them hung the moon. I love that!
The kids all were doing hand stands in the water.
Ready, Set...
GO!!
Adrey didn't quite master the hand stand part but he sure enjoyed splashing in the water!
We started to pack our bags up around 4:00 because it looked like rain was headed our way. I told Adrey we had to leave because the sky was getting dark which meant it was going to rain. The conversation when something like this...
Me: The sky is dark baby, we've got to go.
Adrey: Got to go?
Me: Yes.
Adrey: Why?
Me: Because the sky is getting dark.
Adrey: Sky getting gark?
Me: Yes.
Adrey: Why?
Me: Because it's going to rain.
Adrey: Going to rain?
Me: Yes, it's going to rain.
Adrey: Why?
Me: Because that's what happens when the sky gets dark?
Adrey: That's what happens when the sky gets gark?
Me: Yes.
Adrey: Why?
And this went on for the next 20 minutes! He ran up to everyone that would listen and would point to the sky and say, "Wook! Sky gark! Gonna rain." Adrey absolutely cracks me up! We must hear "Why?" 500 times a day. Not even kidding! I love hearing all the new words and phrases he picks up. Things that I don't even realize WE say. The other day, Adrey, after eating his entire breakfast which he knew we'd be happy about, spread his arms open wide and said, "TADA!". I cracked up! And the other day in the play room he said, "Mama, hang on, I have an idea." I don't know why but that made me feel all warm and fuzzy! He is just this little person who we can carry full on conversations with (answering a lot of WHY questions along the way!!). And he'll be playing with the iPad and say, "Hey Mama, wanna see something funny?". Just simple things like that make my day. He listens to everything we say. And last night, I was in the kitchen preparing the boys bags for the next day and making myself a cup of tea, and Adrey said, "Hey Mama, come sit next to me peeze?" and then he patted the couch next to him. Um, I couldn't grab my tea and blanket quick enough! I'll drop everything and RSVP yes to an invite like that ANY time!!
