When it rains, it pours...

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring.... WOW... what a whirlwind these past few days have been. Got home from work on Tuesday to find our kitchen (if that's what you want to call it!) looked like THIS... Didn't even know the workmen were coming (thankfully Cozmo didn't eat anyone cuz I didn't put him away! LOL!)...

Our home is a MESS to say the least! We've had fans blowing (and driving us absolutely CRAZY in the process) every which way to dry out the drywall which thankfully was successful. The insurance adjuster came out yesterday morning, along with Patriot's Restoration, and determined the fate of our home!! Turns out ALL of our floors (with the exception of the master bedroom and playroom/office) have to be REPLACED. As in we have to MOVE OUT and all the existing floors have to be removed and replaced. The engineered wood that's in place is not capable of drying out without buckling and the wood has been discontinued since we bought it. Big, fat UGH. The kitchen cabinets all have to be removed... only one side has to be replaced but the remaining lower and upper cabinets have to be stained to match the new lower cabinets. All walls have to be repainted and baseboards reinstalled.

I was really expecting the State Farm agent, Luis, to be kind of a jerk, just given the nature of his job, trying to cheat us out of what was owed to us, but the experience was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. As a matter of fact, Luis and Adrey are now officially BFF's!! Seriously, Adrey could NOT keep his eyes off of Luis and kept following him around showing him EVERY SINGLE ONE of his toys and books! And when the 3 restoration men showed up, you would have thought Adrey had died and gone to heaven he was so happy! He was on center stage and putting on a show for everyone! But it was Luis he especially liked. And Luis couldn't have been more accommodating and sweet, every now and again reading a page of a book here and there and commenting "cool car" when handed a red, shiny matchbox car!! We have these big foam squares with numbers in the middle and the numbers pop out.... at one point Adrey walked up to Luis with the cut-out of the "8" around his face... his hands were to his side and he walked up to Luis and kind of leeeeeaaned in so Luis would notice him and then got a smile from ear-to-ear with a big, fat, purple "8" around his face! LOL! I couldn't help but laugh hysterically he was so cute! I wish I had my phone or camera on me at that given moment but I didn't (believe it or not!)!!! But I did snap a few cute ones of the two of them... very poor quality because they were taken from my phone, but you get the jest...

And my favorite shot of the day...

Look how happy Luis was! Is that so cute or what?!?! The picture just cracks me up! I guess if Adrey wants to brown nose someone, a "State Farm Catastrophe Team" agent is the one to do it to! I swear we didn't put him up to it! At one point Luis was writing up some paperwork with one hand and holding Adrey with the other! I, of course, told him I could take him, but I think he was really enjoying the company! LOL!

So, in a nutshell, State Farm, came through for us and they are paying for ALL the work that's being done. They didn't put up a fight or give us a hard time AT ALL. As a matter of fact, Luis wrote us a check for half of what is owed to us while he was there. It's going to be a LONG process which I'm NOT looking forward to, but thankfully it's going to get done and I feel like we're in very good hands.

Thank you, everyone, for thinking of us and for your offers to help us.

We can't thank you enough. It feels so nice to be loved:-)
