Some things don't always go as planned!!

John, through his company, won a weekend stay at the La Playa (a local resort and spa) for this weekend. It was something we've been planning on and looking forward to for a couple months. Our plans were altered a bit because our little munchkin wasn't feeling well. I was MORE THAN GLAD to be at home and take care of A-man, though, as I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I skipped the Friday night festivities as Adrey felt his worst that day. I spent most of Friday just cuddling with him because that's all he seemed to want to do. Mama gladly accepted that responsibility and took it very seriously:-) Adrey woke up Saturday feeling a little better but still not himself. We decided to pack it up and see if we could relax poolside at the hotel where we rented a cabana and just chilled for the afternoon. We swam in the pool a bit and lounged in the shade, but Adrey definitely wasn't his normal self. At 2:00 I brought him to my parent's house so he could get a good nap. He slept for nearly 3 hours and then spent the evening at my parent's house. That night John and I had dinner at the hotel and then spent the night there.

The sunset was beautiful.

It's something that never gets old... no matter how many times you've witnessed the sun going down, you always want to capture it again. The sky was such a beautiful array of pinks and oranges.

And this is what we woke up too... Can you say YUMMY?

This looks like a postcard...

Oh, and then this is what we came home to...

Yes, our refrigerator has apparently been leaking for sometime (unbeknownst to us, obviously) and it COMPLETELY saturated the hardwood floors (below the surface where we couldn't see) and baseboards in the kitchen, part of the dining room, the hallway adjacent to the kitchen and the entire nursery. It also managed to creep up the kitchen cabinets causing the wood to expand and ruin the cabinetry. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. REALLY? Like we need one more thing on our plates!! I immediately called our insurance company and filed a claim and then called a water/fire restoration company and they came out and assessed the damage. THAT'S when we learned the extent of the leak and the damage caused.

After Patriot's Restoration was at the house for 3+ hours, this (the pictures below) is what we're left with until the insurance adjuster can come out and determine the next course of action. The baseboards have all been removed and fans blowing every which way. OH, and did I mention the restoration guy felt quite confident the damaged wood floors would not be salvageable and would have to be replaced? OH, and did I mention that since we had the hard wood floors installed, the wood has been discontinued (we know this because we tried to match the same wood floors when we added on to the house and it couldn't be done). UGH.

The guys felt pretty certain that the work they are going to be doing will not damage the hand-painted walls in the nursery... I hope that holds true.

The white part is where the baseboard was in the nursery... the "shiny" area to the left of the hard wood? Yes, standing water. The nursery got hit the hardest out of all the rooms (there must be a slight tilt in that direction)... wouldn't you know it.... six weeks before the baby arrives!! BUT, I'm staying positive that all will be corrected well before then.

Guess we'll have to put the nursery back together again...

Will keep you posted on how things go in that arena!
Couldn't have a post without some pictures of our wittle peanut. We picked Adrey up this morning about 9:30 (my parents said to take our time but we couldn't wait to get our hands on him) and then came home and played. Just a few randoms of our sweetness, who, although he still has a SLIGHT fever, is a bit more like himself today. Hoping that another good night's sleep tonight will do the trick and he'll be back to new.

Oh Leah...that is terrible. So sorry you have to go through this and being so close to your due date. On the bright side, better the nursery than Adrey's room. At least the baby will be in your room for awhile. I hope this all gets cleaned up and put back together just the way you want it to! Patriot Restoration is a GREAT company and who we use at work. :)

Your son is so adorable. What a cutie! I am glad he could have some good lovey time with his grandparents. Aren't grandparents the best?

I was at Enjoying the Small things today and I read an old post about when she thought she was going to miscarry and I saw your comment there. I came over to say hi!
