John, because of his hard work on the job with Gordon Food Service, WON a trip to Denver, Colorado!! John and I (sans kiddos) flew to Denver with 250 other GFS employees and guests and had a really great time! GFS treats their employees SO WELL. I honestly can not say enough nice things about the company he works for and the people who run it. They are top notch all the way. The airfare, hotel, all meals (except for lunches) were included AND each employee got $500 spending money too!! Say what?!?! See what I mean!!
Between Mom/Dad and Sarah/Kerry, the boys were well cared for the four days/three nights we were away. We got the boys off to school on Thursday morning, 6/21, and then headed to the airport.
The relaxing started about 32,000 feet up...
We got there at 6pm Thursday night about 30 minutes shy of when we had to be to the dinner/awards ceremony but we made it! Friday morning after breakfast John and I got PEDICURES together:-)
About noon we headed on a tour of a few micro-breweries. The owners of the company were on the same tour as us and we got to spend several hours with them. SUCH NICE PEOPLE. People who care about their employees and their well being. People who have MORE money than anyone could possibly NEED, but you'd never know it by how humble, kind and down-to-earth they are. Really role model people.
Friday night, GFS bought out the Broncos Mile High Stadium just for us. Not. Even. Kidding. We had the ENTIRE place to ourselves and there were stations and stations and stations of food as far as the eye could see, drinks that flowed endlessly, guided tours of the facility and a huge room of games for everyone to play (foosball, mini golf, billiards, air hockey, etc.).
That was a night I'll remember. Such a cool idea!
Saturday we met up with John's college roommate that he hadn't seen in 15 years! We met Tom and Judy for breakfast and listened to the guys tell story after story of things I had never heard before. And some things I've heard a 100 times over, but still make me laugh:-) It was hysterical! Saturday we stuck pretty close to the hotel and did some shopping and visited down town Denver. Saturday night we were off to a great dinner at a restuarant called 1515.
We had an absolute blast! We managed to FaceTime the kids a couple times but it didn't go as smoothly as I'd imagined. There was a bit of a delay (as there sometimes is) and everytime Charlie couldn't see us (maybe because Adrey was in front of the camera) he'd start squealing and we couldn't hear anything! But it was nice to see their faces and hear their voices. They FaceTimed one time because Adrey saw a plane and got weepy and wanted to talk to us:-) I'm pretty sure Adrey had the TIME OF HIS LIFE though... I mean, he got to sleep with KK!!
Such a great trip. I love you, John!!
Keep up the good work... I want to go to Boston next June:-)
