Pediatrician appointment...

Adrey had his 3-year well-visit appointment at the doctor last week.  Mama forgot to schedule his 3 year appointment when he was actually 3, so instead it was his 3 year, 3 month appointment.  Oops.  When the doctor came in, in his typically Dr. Vedder fashion, his voice raised about 5 octaves and he greeted us with great enthusiasm!  The doctor didn't waste any time getting right down to business.  He plopped a piece of paper on the chair and said, "OK, Adrey, let's draw a circle."  I immediately began to sweat...  we hadn't been practicing circles.  I was leaning forward with great anticipation to see what his pencil would put on paper.  The little guy drew a circle, well, about 3/4 of a circle, but Dr. Vedder said it counted!  Then he was asked to draw a line and then a cross.  He did both.  PHEW!!  Way to go A-Man!!  Next, the doctor asked him where he lived.  Oh crap.  We've been practicing our address, but Adrey has NEVER recited it back to me when asked just randomly.  After the doctor asked him, Adrey paused a big, pregnant pause.  The doctor then said, "Do you live in Florida or Texas?" and Adrey said, "I live in Naples, Florida.  And Mommy lives in Naples, Florida, and Daddy lives in Naples, Florida and Cha-she lives in Naples, Florida."  Yes, phew, we all live together.  In Naples, Florida!  TWO for TWO.  Jimminy Christmas, THE PRESSURE!

The doctor then said, "So, Adrey, what do you drink?"
  Adrey:  "I drink water."
Dr. Vedder:  "And what else do you drink?"
Adrey:  "Milk and chocolate milk"
Dr. Vedder: "OK, water, milk and chocolate milk, that's great.  No juice, right Mama?"
Me:  "No, Adrey only once in a blue moon has juice."
Dr. Vedder:  "Well, good.  We don't want juice."

The doctor proceeded then to ask how much milk Adrey drank each day. I told him 4 cups and he wanted to know how big of a "cup" I was giving him.  So, I proudly and completely unsolicited, reached in to the diaper bag and grabbed Adrey's sippy cup that was FULL of orange. sparkling. water.  I had JUST filled his cup with that in the waiting room of the office.  OMG I felt like such a jerk.  I didn't say anything until he started examining it, tipping it, totally busting me.  With my tail between my legs in a really low voice I said, "I just gave him some of my orange sparkling water."  End. Of. Story.  I was too embarrassed to try to get myself outta that one.  But the TRUTH is, he does RARELY get juice!  It's not because we don't allow it, but we don't ever buy it so he doesn't ask for it.  But he DOES drink milk, and I'm convinced that, just like his mama, he was a COW in a former life.  Post pregnancy I produce milk like it's going out of style, and Adrey likes to DRINK milk like it's going out of style.

Have I ever told you how much I love bare baby butts?
And this little guy is still the happiest being on the planet.  Unless, of course, you don't put his dinner on his tray quick enough and then he turns into a hot mess in 3 seconds flat.  Which is easily corrected with a fork full of food!

OR, when he's in the tub and wants to get out.  It happens almost instantly.  Playing, playing, playing, having fun, having fun, having fun, splish splash imma takin' a bath..... GET ME OUT THIS INSTANT OR I'LL BLOW!!

And the two of them together these days... I can't say that they're BFF's yet (although Charlie would like to think so) but I definitely think Adrey has come to terms with the fact that Cha-she isn't going anywhere, so they've been playing together pretty well.  Cha-she still gets the occasional elbow to the head or a swift tug on the back of his shirt until his butt plops to the ground, but other than that they've been good together.  Charlie idolizes EVERYTHING Adrey does.  And he LAUGHS, hysterically, at his big brother A LOT.  Click HERE for proof.

Adrey slept with us last night.  He's a very "active" sleeper.  In my "younger days" as recent as a couple years ago, I too, was an active sleeper.  Very vivid dreams resulting in walking, talking, yelling, laughing, crying all while sleeping.  Not sure if Adrey's sleep habits are just typical for that of a 3 year old or if he'll be following in his mama's sleepy footsteps.  Either way, last night he woke up in the middle of the night, sat straight up and said, "Mama, I went all the way up and then went back down!" and he said it with such enthusiasm!  He must have been flying in his dream and he was sure proud of it!  So cute!!
