For the most part, it was kind of like Ground Hog's day when we were in Mexico. Charlie would wake up before the sun (6:00ish) and John and I would take turns getting up with him. That person and Charlie would go get coffee and come back. Then we'd all get our suits on and we'd be down to the pool by 8am! And typically shark tooth hunting by 8:01!! Most of our days were spent on the beach and by the pool. On Tuesday I tried the water aerobics class! Kind of fun! And a pretty good workout to boot!
We met another family (we actually met the two years ago but they didn't have their kids with them that trip) that had two kids... James and Lily. We were all in the kiddie pool together and I made the introduction and the rest is history!!
Adrey had a "banana monkey" (non alcoholic, of course) every day we were there!! He loves them!! What's not to love, though, really?!?! And since we've been home, Charlie says "banana monkey" every now and again just because it's fun to say I guess (Charlie did not like them).
This was the day that John and I took our eyes off Charlie for 10 seconds and he was gone. Like POOF, gone. And I completely flipped out. The pool there is the size of a football field and I could not see him anywhere. I was running around the pool like a mad man screaming for Charlie. People kept telling me they saw him go this way or that way. I was like a crazed person, feeling completely desperate. I ran around the entire pool only to find John holding on to Charlie when I circled back around. Charlie had gone the opposite direction I ran (of course) and had gone over the bridge and to the other side. He was perfectly safe, but holy smokes that feeling I had is the worst feeling/emotion I have ever experienced. Just sheer terror. I wasn't concerned someone had taken him... it was the water I feared. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. Ugh. We could tell he felt so bad because he saw the terror in my face. Poor sweet baby!
I love this next picture of the two of them waiting. Charlie is just so teeny tiny I can't stand it!
This is a perfect picture to describe how loving Charlie is.
He really is such a tender little guy. Oh I just want to eat him up!
So, being I didn't bring the SNACKS that I bought at home, we went to the on site grocery store and bought snacks. Everything is marked in pesos so it was difficult to do the math sometimes. After buying a handful of things and leaving the store, I realized the bill seemed really high. All I had gotten was a beach ball, two plastic containers of cookies (as seen in photo below), water and beer. When I got to the pool it dawned on me that it seemed really expensive. I looked at the receipt and the cookies (personal size portion) were $11.00 a PIECE. Are you kidding me? But not everything was expensive, just certain things, so weird.
The day after we got back to Naples, I went grocery shopping and guess what was on sale...
Not. Even. Kidding. I over paid by 1000%. And I bought two.
Never again will I forget snacks. Another high ticket item is suntan spray. I packed 3 cans and they were gone in 2 days (and I can proudly say NEITHER of the boys burned one bit). I went to buy another can and it was $29.00 for ONE. I politely and jokingly told the gentleman that I'd rather "burn" than pay for it!! We ended up buying the old fashion "lotion" and that worked fine! Just so annoying to apply!
Jim, Marty and John-John
(Those stairs above, behind us, are the ones Charlie walked over when he went exploring. And the pool below, was the gigantic pool I ran around in terror.)
The boys got to hold an iguana!! Adrey was excited!
Charlie, not so much! He kept saying, without moving his lips,
"Take him off. I don't want to hold him." LOL!
We thought maybe he'd like it better if he were sitting.
We were wrong!
You might remember the iguana pictures from a couple years ago...
And each day we'd finish at the pool about 5:00 and head up to the room to get cleaned up and then we'd head to dinner. We'd be back to the room by 8:30ish and the boys would crash by 8:35!!
Night night!!
More photos to come tomorrow!
