Disney World - Take 1

Well, we hit the road for one last time this summer before school starts.  We hadn't seen Mickey in a while, so we headed to Disney the first weekend of August!  We left late Thursday evening and arrived about 11:30pm.  We planned the trip around a meeting that John had in Plant City on Friday.  So John was out the door at about 5:45am Friday morning (after not going to bed until about 2:00am... Charlie was not all about going to bed and caused all of us to get a few hours less sleep!!).  Joanne and MJ and Joanne's sister, Tanya, went with us so the three of them and me and the boys headed to Animal Kingdom on Friday.  We saw lots of Disney Celebs...

Charlie was NOT all about them, either.  Scared to death at first but by the end of the weekend he warmed up to them just a little bit!  MJ, on the other hand, couldn't wait to meet each and every one of them!

You'd think getting a picture of just three toddlers would not be such a difficult task.  But it is.  And trying to get them all to look at the camera (let alone smile) AT THE SAME time is nearly impossible!

Mission accomplished...

Yeah, Charlie wouldn't even come close to Rifiki...

But Charlie DID pet this LIVE snake...

We hit the safari too...

Charlie, being he only slept 5 hours the night before was out like a light in his stroller by about 1:00.  Tanya, 18 weeks pregnant, offered to take a rest herself and watch Charlie so that me and Adrey and MJ and JoJo could ride the safari.  Thank you, Tanya:-)  Tanya was a TROOPER... on her feet all day in the heat.  She's pretty much awesome.

Jo handed me her phone and asked me to get a picture of her and MJ and to "try to get a giraffe in the background".  We were moving, by the way....

Adrey with an elephant in the background!  I love Adrey's grin in this picture.
He was my little bud all day.

And speaking of buds... Adrey and MJ are really good buds.  It's so cute to watch them together.

Be. Still. My. Heart.

Then we were off to Epcot to meet John!

Aaaaaaand their love affair pretty much ended (for the day) right after this picture was taken.  They were hugging and lost their balance and fell and MJ cracked her head into the pavement and skinned her elbow.  Bwess her wittle heart.  That was it for Jo, MJ and Tanya.... they decided to call it a day.  The Ritchey's persevered and stayed until the fireworks show at 9pm.  Both boys were INCREDIBLY well behaved the entire trip.  It was warm, muggy, they were staying up late and waking up early, and MAN WERE THEY GOOD.  They made their mama (and daddy too) proud!

Friday and Saturday it certainly hot, but it wasn't as hot as I thought it would be.  By about 3:00 each day the clouds covered the sun and it really was quite comfortable.  Sunday was entirely a different story... it was like an oven.  With no breeze. what. so. ever.  Just shoot me.

I tried to get a picture of the boys both smiling... this was the closest thing I could get...

Until Adrey did something (I can't now recall what it was) to Charlie (like poke or push or something that would otherwise piss Charlie off) which then made Adrey laugh absolutely hysterically.  Of course, at the the expense of his little brother.

But in typical Charlie fashion, he wasn't even phased.

We passed by a band playing 80's music.  We stopped and the boys danced and ran through the landscape maze.  I told John we should make a hedge maze in our side lawn.  They were running through it laughing hysterically and trying to catch each other.  They loved it!  Then we got to meet the band!

Then we secured our spot around the lake so we were sure to have a good position for the fireworks/lights show!

By this time we were a sweaty, sticky mess.  All of us.
But we were together and we were having fun!!

Adrey was asleep in the car within two seconds flat.  Charlie, of course, was wide awake and could've stayed at the park a few more hours (he's boycotting sleep lately... awesome).  I knew how badly I wanted to take a shower and how good I would feel and I wanted the same for the boys.  I scooped Adrey up and put him on the bed while I got Charlie bathed and in his jammies.  I figured I'd try to do the same for Adrey but just trying to get Adrey's clothes off was a major battle.  He got SO mad because he was SO tired and just wanted to sleep (believe me, I knew just how he felt and completely understood).  I didn't want to upset him anymore so I decided to skip the bath.  I went and grabbed his jammies and came back to a passed out naked "baby".  We could have decorated him with a marker and put whipping cream on him and he never would have moved.  He was THAT tired.  But we didn't.  Instead we took pictures, laughed and soaked up the memory and stored it in a safe place so we could revisit years down the road.

Bwess his pwecious wittle heart.
Remind anyone of Dinner Club?  Inside joke with some Michigan family:-)

More Disney pics to come....
