A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

The boys started school on Monday the 20th!  It is so hard to comprehend that the boys are 4 and 2.  Time has flown by.  Adrey was super nervous about going to school.  I could tell by the questions he was asking and his demeanor.  When we got to school he immediately grew quiet and wanted to be RIGHT by my side... not the norm for Adrey for sure!  We first dropped off Charlie.  He was so super sad with tears and all, but I knew he'd be ok.  There are two kids from his class last year that are in his class this year, so I know the familiar faces will help with the transition.  I got on the floor with him and tried to get him engaged in something with his friends.  All the while, one of the cute girls in his class was in meltdown mode.  You'd think someone just told her she'd never EVER see her mom again!  Poor thing!!  I had to pry Charlie off me and hand him to Ms. Missy:-(    I dropped off Adrey next and as soon as we got in the room he started crying asking me to stay with him.  It doesn't matter how chipper of a voice you use, or how enthusiastic you try to make a puzzle sound, on the first day of school nothing seems to work.  I sat down with him and started an activity with him but he wasn't falling for it.  I wanted so badly to stick by his side all day so he'd feel confident but, of course, that's not what he needs.  I felt so sad leaving him.  Both of them.  When I left the room I signed him in on the sign-in sheet and then turned back around to peek in the door to see how he was doing.  He was glued to the window waiting to watch me walk out to the car.  Oh just shoot me.  All I wanted to do was hug my baby boy and wipe those big tears.  I went back to Charlie's room then to see how he was doing and he was happy as a clam!  Thank God!  When I got in the car and drove off I decided I wanted to call the school and tell the teacher that Adrey's Ducky was in his backpack in case he was sad and needed comforting.  Ducky always seems to make things better.  Aint nothin' Ducky can't fix:-)  The receptionist patched me through.  As soon as it started ringing I hung up.  I got cold feet.  I didn't want to be "that mom".  His teacher knows what she's doing.  About 5 minutes later the teacher called me back and left a message saying she was sorry we got "disconnected" and that Adrey was happy as a lark, having a snack and talking with his friends.  Thank.  God.  Made me so much happier!

AND GUESS WHO'S GOT A BIG BOY BED?!?!
It's a big week for Charlie!!

I can't even believe I'm writing that and Charlie JUST turned 2!!  Charlie started escaping his crib about a month prior to turning the big "2".  He managed to hoist one leg over and slowly drop his body on to the floor (a big thanks to Adrey for demonstrating the task)... that was a good indication he needed to be transitioned into a big boy bed to prevent any injuries!!  Prior to going on our cruise in July, Charlie was the BEST SLEEPER ON THE PLANET.  When it was time for bed we'd read a few books and then he'd DIVE into the crib.  He'd roll over, tuck his hands under his tummy and it was lights out.  He LIKED going to bed.  Post cruise, things couldn't be more opposite.  He resists going to bed with every bit of energy he has in him.  John and I have gotten in to the habit now of staying in his room with him (either in the rocker or in the bed with him) until he falls asleep (which is sometimes an hour or more) because otherwise he screams his head off and follows us out of the room.  And if we try getting up, when we think he's asleep and he's not, he says, "Mommy" or "Daddy" and points to the chair or the bed.  He's totally got control of the situation... the roles need to be reversed and we're working on that.  But Mama got 1 point for getting Charlie to take a nap DAY 1 of having a big boy bed.  And here's the proof...

Our last week of Summer we headed to the Train Depot down town.  We've never been and the boys loved it!  There's a huge indoor room that's filled with a huge interactive train set.  The kids LOVED it!!  And outside there was a train ride (click HERE to see) that drove us around the parking lot!  It was fun!!

I love Bella's front wedgie...

Last week we had a bunch of service people coming to the house for various reasons.  And Adrey interrogated every. single. one. of. them.  Not just the typical "What's your name?" that's he's known for but also...
"What are you doing?"
"Why are you doing that?"
"How long will you be doing that?
"What is that thing?"
"Now what are you doing?"
with a random "What's your name again?" thrown in there every few minutes
"That's big, can I pick that up?

The boys were front and center for all the men that came over...

Our house, or something very close to us, was struck by lightening.  It zapped THREE of our four TV's and fried our pool pump.  Awesome.

Poor Carlos... he gets it every Friday morning!  He always comes about 8am which is perfect for ME because it gives me a 10 minute break to finish getting ready!!  Adrey asks him the same questions each week!  It's like Groundhog's Day for Carlos every Friday!  It's so cute.  Carlos is so sweet to the boys too.

Sean serviced our A/C.  He wasn't as "chatty" with Adrey but he put up with him!! He gave Adrey a 12"x12" piece of chicken wire that had super sharp edges that would break open your skin with not much effort.  Wasn't that nice?!?!!

Curiosity is a sign of intelligence, ya know.  Adrey is super duper smart:-)

Daddy was out of town for work a couple days last week.  Adrey put on his goggles one morning and we took a picture and texted it to Daddy wishing him a good day!

As soon as Daddy got home from his trip Charlie was waking up from a nap.  John went in and layed down with him and Charlie fell asleep again on his chest.  Be. Still. My. Heart.

KK made a comic strip about Adrey...

MJ and JoJo came over for dinner the other night and when they were getting ready to leave the kids spotted a lizard underneath the car!

Last week we were invited by friends to go on a boat ride tour.  Our friends own Cruise Naples so we went free of charge!  The kids really enjoyed it for the first 15 minutes or so and spent the next hour and 15 minutes asking when we'd be done!!

Adrey has discovered that there's a remote to our iPod speaker station so now his big thing is to play music (quite loud) and dance.  Charlie wants to do EVERYTHING like his big brother... and all of his dance moves are always SO three minutes ago by the time he catches on!!  To see the boys in action click HERE.  To see a video of Adrey making Charlie laugh, click HERE.  And to see a picture of some drag racing, click HERE.
