Wow, I'm really slacking on my posts... have SO MUCH going on I can't keep up with the blog lately... or anything else for that matter!! Saturday was SUCH a great day. We got up bright and early and headed to our church where "Kids Against Hunger" had a food drive of sorts. My family, together with a couple hundred other people, managed to put together over 80,000 meals for the underprivileged in our area as well as other countries (will be shipped). It was really gratifying to do.
Charlie and Adrey were not invited... a two year old in this type of setting.... not so much. We found THE BEST BABYSITTER through a friend and she's fabulous! I feel 100% comfortable with her and Adrey didn't even cry when we left! It was awesome!! But Katelyn and Allison did come and they were SUCH a big help with packaging the food. And Allison was sure to dress as stylish as possible for the event.
The gymnasium was FILLED! It was awesome seeing so many people there to support such a great cause!
And the giving wasn't over yet. This year my family (Ritcheys, Waynes, and my parents) decided in lieu of exchanging gifts among the adults this year (kids will, of course, be spoiled rotten with gifts galore) we would donate to St. Matthew's House here in town. It's a homeless shelter and they are in dire straights this year... their pantry almost empty. Soooooooooooo, we loaded up the car (all four of us) and headed to Costco.
We dropped it off at St. Matthew's House and they were SO appreciative. It felt SO good to do that. All they kept saying was "God Bless You". It meant SO much to them.
And Adrey enjoyed being able to hop from one moving "vehicle" to another... keeping no mind of what boxes he was crushing along the way!!
Such a great weekend. If you are in the position to do something like this, it's very much needed and will be greatly appreciated by those receiving it.
P.S. John, if you are reading this... the "no gift giving amongst adults" does not apply to you not giving me a gift... that's still required:-) xoxo
