Adrey had his 6 MONTH doctor appointment today! It was quite a doctor's visit to say the least! John had to work, so it was just me and A-man. We did the usual routine when we got there, which is to strip him down to his diaper so they could weigh him. He was none to pleased when I layed him on the scale, he wasn't quite finished with the bottle I started him so he was hungry, it was naptime AND a nurse had a thermometer up his rear end, so I can't say that I blame him!! He weighed in at 16 pounds 8 ounces... I had a look of concern on my face and the nurse asked why. I told her that I was concerned because that's exactly what he weighed at his 4 month appointment. It didn't seem right because we can tell he's grown. So the nurse recalibrated the scale and she weighed our little munchkin again and he weighed 19 POUNDS!! That's more like it!! And he's 28 inches long! Yowsers!! He's 75th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for height! He's gonna be a basketball player... I just know it! Actually everytime he does something I declare what he's going to be... i.e. he loves it when I sing to him so I say he's going to be a musician... His shoulders are as wide as his head so we say he's going to be a football player! We don't care, though, WHAT he becomes as long as he's healthy and happy! Although I love this phase of his life, and don't want it to end, but it's still kind of fun, though, to imagine...So, back to the doctor's visit.... so we went back to the room and I gave Adrey the rest of his bottle while we waited for Dr. Vedder to come in. Dr. V came in and immediately starts talking in a high pitched baby voice (LOVE HIM!) to Adrey! He is one of the kindest, nicest human beings I've ever met. He was meant to be a pediatrician. He asked all the normal, routine questions about Adrey's development and we chatted about what to expect the next few months and more about what we can feed him etc. Dr. V kept looking at Adrey and saying, "I can't wait to get my hands on you!". So sweet!! Then it was examination time. Dr. V is so cool about just letting Mommy or Daddy hold the baby while he examines him instead of putting him on the cold table. So he asked to put Adrey on my lap and face him towards Dr. V (Adrey's back was against my chest and they were looking eye to eye) and then lean him back to where he was nearly laying on my lap. Dr. V started massaging his belly and stretching his legs... he peeled back one side of Adrey's diaper and "exposed" him and Adrey immediately peed on Dr. Vedder. A perfect stream of tee-tee right on his shirt and tie and all over the floor. Dr. V waited a few seconds and pulled it down again and Adrey was still going! I was cracking up but at the same time felt horrible! Dr. V just said, in his high pitched baby voice, "well that's ok... that's what babies do!". A few minutes later Dr. V picked up Adrey and was chattin' away with him and bouncing him slightly which made him smile... and PUKE... all over Dr. V's pants and the sleeve of his shirt. Seriously... it wasn't just a spit up it was a full fledged you-bounce-me-right-after-I-eat-and-this-is-what-you-get puke!! It was so freakin' funny but again, I felt horrible! I quick handed him some wet wipes and took Adrey from him! He couldn't have been sweeter about it! Totally couldn't have cared less!!
There were several times during the appointment where I was looking at Adrey and watching him as he inspected Dr. Vedder. He was so curious as to everything he was doing to him. I sat and stared at him thinking "OMG, you are seriously the cutest baby in the whole wide world." I was flooded with love that was spilling out of every pore of my body!! That's what Adrey does to us!! Such a yummy feeling... thankfully I experience that emotion all the time!
After our visit with Dr. V, the nurse came in and gave Adrey two shots. It amazes me how quickly she did it and it was all over with. Adrey cried for about, oh, 3 seconds and then I picked him up and he was just fine! Such a brave wittle guy. Dr. Vedder is very pleased with Adrey's development! So are we! I left the office a happy mommy:-)
On Wednesday, Adrey and I met our dear, dear, dear, dear, DEAR friends Bob and Roberta out for lunch. Bob and Roberta lived below me in my first condo here in Naples and we've remained close ever since. They took SUCH good care of me when I lived above them. They would cook me dinner all the time... I'd come home from work and there'd be a message on my machine for me to come downstairs because they had dinner ready for me! And that wasn't just once in a while... it was probably once or twice a week!! They have hearts of gold and I'm truly blessed to know them. Anyway... sappyness aside... we went to Cheesecake Factory with them on Wednesday. Adrey had his first successful highchair-in-a-restuarant experience! I tried it once before but he wasn't quite ready and would slide to one side, leaning over! He's been using his highchair at home since he was four months, but the restaurant ones are wood and totally nonconforming. Anyway, he did a great job! The menu had so much to choose from... he couldn't decide what to have....

We go to Dr. Vedder too and we absolutely love him. He's the greatest. I could just hear his high-pitched baby voice as I was reading your story. He's so great with the babies. We'll be seeing him soon for Ashton's 4 mos. visit. I was talking to Rochelle and we'd like to have you and Adrey over one of these weekends so we can meet him and I would also like you to show me a few things on the scrapbooking program. :) Then, if you'd like, we can all head over to the Naples Bay Resort and enjoy the pool and sun. They have a lazy river there that would be fun with the boys.
