Home again, home again, jiggity-jig!!

We got home from the hospital late yesterday afternoon. It's nice to be home although I would have preferred to take one of the nurses and one of those monitoring machines (heartrate, blood pressure etc.) home with us:-) John and I both are a little anxious and nervous but I know it will get better and easier with time. He threw up last night and again this morning. I called the surgeon and he said that he thinks Adrey's just overeating at the moment. He said no more breastfeeding, instead use a bottle. Sooooo, I'm back to pumping and he's to have 1.5 ounces every 1.5 hours (start to start). So, basically we're feeding/burping all the time!! Since we've done that he's spit up a few times, which is normal after this surgery, but he hasn't thrown up!!

The surgeon removed the bandage covering the incision and it's only about an inch long and the stitches are inside... not on the outside! He won't have to have anything taken out. We have a follow up appointment (it's also his 1-month check up) with his pediatrician next Thursday, 8/28, and we have to revisit the surgeon next Friday, 8/29, for a follow up.

On another note... yesterday afternoon John and I were standing in the kitchen (I was holding Adrey) when a BIG bolt of lightening struck the tree on the other side of our lake. For all you Michiganders, the lakes here are NOT like the lakes up there.... our lake, to you, is a puddle. The tree snapped in half! We have a big antique window hanging above our kitchen cabinets and it caused that to fly off the wall and shatter into a billion pieces on the floor. A clock fell off the wall too! HOLY COW it was scary!! Thank goodness we weren't standing under the window that fell. Sheeeeesh!!

Oh my god, Leah, we had no idea this was all happening...but we are sooooo relieved to hear that Adrey is healthy. What an ordeal for all of you to go through...but it will only make your family stronger! We are thinking of you way out here in California and we hope that the recovery continues to go smoothly. We love you!

PEAH, Oh honey. This must have been the most terrifying experience. I was just crying so hard thinking about Adrey not being able to process food. Kevin and I are both so, so happy that everything is ok now. I cannot even imagine how scared you must have been. Love you so much and cannot wait to keep checking your blog to watch Adrey's growth! He's a beauty. Much love, Katie N.

Oh yeyyyyyyyy!. I think I am the last of my friends that don't have a family blogspot. I check them all during my planning at work.
So, I suppose one day I will do the same. I miss you!!!

Hey Leah, I am so sorry to hear about all of that. I am so glad you acted so quickly and had some good doctors. We will continue to pray for a full recovery, although little Adrey already looks like he is feeling great.

Keep us informed of his progress and let me know if you need anything. Love, Sara & Ben
