A couple weekends ago we spontaneously decided to go to the zoo. We were passing the zoo on our way home from taking Charlie to the doctor and as we're passing it Adrey says from the back seat "I wanna go to the zoo. Let's go to the zoo." John and I looked at each other and then John made a U-turn and within minutes we were unloading the car and on our way in to the zoo! There were a ton of cars in the parking lot (it was only 9:15am) and there were people directing traffic... I stopped someone to ask what was going on and he said, "It's FREE Saturday at the zoo." OH YEAH! BONUS!!
Adrey is ALL about picking out his clothes these days. We don't have much of a say as to what he wears anymore... and quite frankly I think it's cute that he even thinks/cares about it! I've found a trick though if there's a time that I DO want him to "match"... I find that if I engage him in a really good conversation, I can pick out his clothes and get him dressed without him questioning it, but I can't take a BREATH while talking to him because if there's a second for him to think about what I'm doing I'd NEVER get away with it!!
They had camel rides at the zoo! Adrey wanted to do it. Then he didn't. Then he did. Then he didn't. Then he did. Then he didn't. Finally I just scooped him up, paid and off we went. I knew he would love it he was just a little bit nervous. But as soon as we got on it he was ALL SMILES! To watch a video of us on "Joseph", our camel, click HERE.
And we always have to stop and play on the playgrounds at the zoo!
Last week I took the boys to Jumping Jacks, an indoor playground. They absolutely love that place. They especially liked the bounce house. This was the first time I've allowed Charlie in it because I was always afraid he'd get knocked down by the big kids (aka his brother)... but he held his own. To see, click HERE.
And to tell this next cute story I have to rewind back to earlier in the week when I went through the Starbucks line with the boys. While in line Adrey asked if he could get ice cream. I told him that Starbucks didn't have ice cream they only had coffee and tea. He didn't believe me and said he was going to ask when we got to the window. So sure enough he did. In his cute little voice he said, "Do you have ice cream?" and the lady said, "No, I'm sorry, we don't." And that was the end of it. Nothing further was said about that. Well, back to Jumping Jacks... Adrey and I were playing "grocery store check out" and he was checking me out. He was scanning all the food with the scanner and putting the things in my basket. When all of my groceries were scanned, he leaned forward and whispered, "Ask me if I have ice cream." So I said, "Excuse me, do you have ice cream?" and he replied, "No, I'm sorry, we don't!"
Oh. Stop. The. Cuteness!!
Adrey with a bathtub mohawk...
We really love our pool. Heated to 90 degrees it's just a little slice of heaven. Life jackets are a must and the boys love them. Charlie is as chill as can be in his...
Last weekend we had the Waynes and my parents over for dinner. The kids swam for probably two hours so they were whipped, and well, by 10:00 so was I...
Adrey is sick AGAIN. We diagnosed him with croup over the weekend (he had the classic symptoms and it's a virus so there was no sense in going to the doctor)... he would get into these coughing fits which would ultimately end up with him throwing up. Poor babe. He's a puker for sure and has been since he was first born.
Saturday night Sarah and I went out to dinner with some friends and Sarah decided to spend the night since she had to be pick up Allison at our parent's house the next morning. When we got home at midnight John was giving Adrey a BATH. Uh oh. Adrey had woken up in a coughing fit and threw up. Everywhere. Ugh. In the morning when Adrey found out Sarah was still at the house he kept saying he wanted to go wake her up. Every 10 seconds he'd ask if he could go see her. Finally he got on his hands and knees and started talking under the door. Unfortunately I couldn't grab my camera in time to get much video but I did get some. To see it click HERE.
With Adrey being sick, John and I have been home pretty much all week with him. I took the boys for a walk on a very CHILLY Monday morning....
And they spent the entire walk fidgeting with the stupid blanket...
"Put it on top like a cave."
"No, now put it over me I'm cold."
"I want a cave again but I can still see light through the top so cover that part too."
"Charlie keeps pulling it off"
"Mom, the blanket fell off and we just ran over it."
GOOD GRIEF!!!
Charlie got a new outfit and I can't get enough of him in it. And it was 40% off at GAP. Probably because it's fully lined and no parent in Naples would dress their kid in it because it's too hot. But I'll set our A/C to 50 if it means him wearing it. I take this outfit very seriously:-)
Adrey has been very resistant to napping these days it's a major ordeal every day trying to get him to stay in his bed. It typically takes 10 times of him getting out before he commits to staying in his room. Today I told him that if he got out of bed I would have to throw his candy away. Um, the little rascal never got out of bed. Wow, I'm good. And for the record "throwing away his candy" clearly meant "Mommy's going to eat it". When I went in to check on him only 15 minutes after shutting his door, THIS is how I found him! He LOVES his ducky!!
This morning we were in the car on our way to the park and Adrey said to me, "Mommy, when I get older I'm um, I'm um, I'm going to drink beer and so is Charlie." Say WHAT? I laughed my rear end off!!! He says the most random things! And on our way home from the park Adrey asked if "we could stop by our old house and see how it's doing."
These kids makes my day.
Funniest kids I've ever met.
